Poisoning From Common Household Products

Products	Clinical Effects
Bleaches	Photophobia, coughing, sneezing, vomiting and diarrhoea.
Deodorants	Oral irritation, bloody vomiting and diarrhoea, incoordination and kidney damage.
Matches	Vomiting and diarrhoea. The chlorates may also cause cyanosis and haemolysis.
Pencils	Vomiting and diarrhoea.
Perfumes	Skin irritation and liver, kidney, lung and airsac damage. Perfumes may cause excitement, incoordination, and coma.
Overheated non-stick pans, irons, ironing board covers	Sudden death, dyspnoea (difficulty breathing), depression, pulmonary haemorrhage.
Shampoos	Eye irritation. If ingested may cause diarrhoea.
Cleaning agents with ammonia compounds	Coughing, sneezing and difficulty breathing. Ammonia may cause immune suppression.
